‘Law has failed to curb child labour in mining’

Activists and academics at the State-level Consultation on Children in Mining Area held here on Monday rued that not a single person had been convicted under the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Amendment Act, 2016.

“There is no data on the rehabilitation provided to the children rescued from child labour and not one employer has been punished for employing children. The legislation has been ineffective and has failed to stop child labour,” said Joseph Victor Raj, Director, Hope India. Read more
